Congratulations to Marc Ingber on
becoming the permeate Dean of the Department.
2. Marc Ingber – Brief discussion on the
Vision for UNM ME Department.

2000 process discussions. – see handout
- Prepare
now for a visit in 2004.

- The
Advisory Council could review and advise on the process defined by the ME
Department.
4. Curriculum review
- Seems
too old, inflexible
- Students
are not excited about curriculum
- Discussions
with the ME Undergraduate Committee.
- Few,
if any, have completed the program in 4 years.
- Discussions
on curriculum.
5. Action Items
- Marc
Ingber to invite Advisory Council members to the ME359 presentations.
- Marc
Ingber to investigate small new business contract opportunities ($3-$10K)
with LANL / SNL.
- Don
Hossink to speak with Brian Foster, UNM Provost, about the ESPC
Engineering Laboratory Equipment Initiative.
- George
Frieberg to ask Board of Regency about “Core second language elective”
requirement.
- John
Ferris to ask Engineering Board of Visitors about “Core second language
elective” requirement.
- Marc
Ingber to sent out the curriculum to the advisory council for personal
review.
- Members
to send ideas and suggestions to Steve by January 30, 2001. (i.e. 128 credit hours)
- Steve
Girrense will build a draft of the curriculum by February for team
electronic review.
