Biography
Dr. Wenbin Wan joined the Department of Mechanical Engineering as an Assistant Professor in August 2023. Before this appointment, he was a Scientist in Decision Sciences, Epsilon, at Publicis Groupe. He received his Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering and M.S. in Applied Mathematics from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign (UIUC). He was appointed MechSE Teaching Fellow at UIUC and named CPS Rising Star by the University of Virginia. His research interests are control and optimization, machine learning, and cyber-physical systems (CPS) with their safety-critical applications. He is focused on enabling the safe operation of CPS with significant uncertainties, such as cyber-attacks, unforeseen environments, and faulty models, by integrating attack-resilient estimation, machine learning algorithms, and robust adaptive control.
